Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE),

Every year, the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) puts around 70,000 to 80,000 Hong Kong students to the test. The HKDSE first came into effect in 2012 and is taken at the end of a student’s six-year secondary school education. The exams are spread out over a few months, from around mid-February to early May, with results available in July the same year. The results are considered an indicator of that student’s success in their future application to tertiary institutions.

The Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) is a secondary qualification awarded to students who have completed three years of secondary education in Hong Kong. The HKDSE program comprises of core and elective subjects.
Most school candidates may take four core subjects (Chinese Language, English Language, Mathematics, and Liberal Studies), plus two to three elective subjects from Category A Senior Secondary subjects; Category B Applied Learning subjects or Category C Other Language subjects. Students then undertake the Hong Kong Diploma Secondary Education
Examination. Upon successful completion, students are issued with the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education. Entry requirements
For entry to all undergraduate programs at UQ applicants must
meet two basic entry requirements:
1. Eligibility (i.e. satisfy the subject prerequisites and other
requirements)
2. Merit (i.e. possess a selection rank high enough for a place in
the program†)
† Selection ranks range from 1.00 to 99.95 (maximum). As admission is
competitive the minimum selection thresholds for programs can fluctuate
from year to year.
